Description: Anise (Pimpinella anisum) is an annual spice plant that grows up to half a meter high. Flowers in mares of tiny white flowers. In culinary we use seeds, whole or ground. The anise has a sweet taste, a bit like menthol. The anise is native to Egypt and is now cultivated throughout Europe, mostly in the Mediterranean. It was already used in ancient Egypt. In ancient Greece and Rome, anise was used in baking bread.
